I have FRIENDS; See why I say I am rich!
This morning Becky and I watched the sun come up, the skies change colors, felt the cool morning air, listened to the bubbling river, planned our picnic next Saturday along its shores, shared hearts and let God renew our souls, all on our 2 hour morning walk.
You've heard about Vicki, my housemate that I loved that's now gone home. Now I have Hannah from Sacramento and Stephanie from Ohio as housemates. They are young, energetic, listen to some different kinds of music. They're designers and are here to help launch Amani ya Juu. On Facebook I've given the You Tube link so you can see the Columbus, Ohio show that they've already put on with the collection of a Liberian designer's clothes. In May this designer will donate a new collection for the shows that will be put on here. (Yekepa and Monrovia)
Korto Momolu was a Project Runway Finalist in the 5th season. Even on the show they shared that Korto would get up early mornings to read her Bible. She loves Jesus, and she's now returning home to give to her nation as it begins to rebuild!
I imagine you will be hearing lots as I watch the preparations for a show that I will miss, but I'll get to see "my students" as they audition as models and other aspects of the preparations. Stephanie will share in my Public Relations class how she put on the Columbus show.
It's SUCH fun when we get to see God's hand unfold plans this way. Why do I more often, however, gravitate to those dark places when I wonder if I'll ever hear from Him again, or question why He's not doing for me like such and such?. You know the "James and John" syndrone. Maybe one of these days I'll grow up! That's my desire.
Now, I feel like a bag lady. I've put my clothes in a plastic bag, and my water and snacks in another bag, ready when Jamaima Kollie gets out of class. Together we're going in a taxi that we've been told to pray doesn't break down to Ganta! It's a 2 hour ride over dusty roads. I imagine that the next post will be full of pictures and hopefully rich stories of seeing God work in that town too! I've gotten "permission" from all those wise ones who've been around a lot longer than me. Barry asked me to do that. I can understand his apprehensions. In some ways my journey is harder on him than on me.
But then today, he gets to send one set of our children off on a spring break trip, and then he goes to visit Claire's family. I guess we both get "our own perks."
