Priscilla Came By

Priscilla is from Nigeria, a freashman here. She has a beautiful voice, and we had fun listening on my computer to some of the Getty songs I have,
. She loved the music, even liked my Bach. When I played Total Praise, it made me realize again I'm missing the joint service our choir is doing with JSU choir the week before I get home. I hope I can hear a recording.

One thing Priscilla and I discussed was how the student that is over music here isn't interested in broadening her musical repertoire. I believe that college is the perfect environment in which one should be stretched. Maybe that's why I hope they can find a faculty person to lead the music program here.

It was HOT today. Finally, it cooled enough for a 30 minute walk and reflection time. As I walked, I thought again about this topic of food acquisition. Imagine. Living in Jackson that you only could go to a grocery store in Huntsville, Al. Thankfully weekend trips to Monrovia occur lots! And whoever goes, takes the shopping list for all the rest of us. I got some frozen veggies that I am so happy to have. Locally we can usually count on getting onion, garlic, pineapple, bananas, cocunut, all kinds of dried beans, papaya, and watermelon. Other things we sometimes can find, like once, I've gotten an avocado. And I have gotten one or two cabbages. I'm learning to cook, and even finding it fun to experiment with different combinations that I discover I like.
